KokoTeatteri is a free independent professional theatre in Helsinki, Finland. It is found in 1997. KokoTeatteri´s program is all about new drama from Finland and overseas. KokoTeatteri presents 4-6 productions per year and takes part in many visiting performances. Koko Jazz Club works under our umbrella.
Theatre is known for contemporary plays. Our former program has had plays from Sarah Kane, David Mamet, Anna Raynolds, Arthur Kopit, Marie Jones and from East-Europe names like Marius Ivaskevichius, Andrus Kivirähk and Nikolai Kolyada. New Finnish drama is in a major part of our program.
KokoTeatteri has always been a place for professionals reaching over art genres. Actors dancing or writing plays or directing, musicians and dancers acting or writing. All this has created contemporary theatre where different genres are making new organic worlds.
Most of the new Finnish drama scripts have been written for performers who are in a big role for developing the text in co-operation with the playwriter and director.
Koko Agency and KokoTeatteri´s Artistic Director Anna Veijalainen are taking care of the rights for some of these plays.
